Day 40 - What about PowerPoint Pitching?

PowerPoint Pitching: Slide-by-Slide

PowerPoint Pitching: Slide-by-Slide

Oct 21, 2010 -

A PowerPoint presentation never promises to titillate like a Broadway production. But when it comes to presenting and pitching an idea to potential investors, it’s important to make the most of each frame of your slide show to create a powerful and selling narrative. While there are typically 120 pages in a film script, stick to no more than 10 slides for a presentation – any more will bore your audience.

Sure, video is getting all the publicity and definitely is the cool tool of this decade but don't over look that old stand by the slide show.

Not only are slides a great way to keep a presentation moving and on track but they can also be incorporated into a video. By using slides as the foundation of a broadcast you both take the pressure off yourself, the speaker, and give yourself a guide to follow.

Rather than focusing the camera on yourself, record the slide presentation first and then add the narration as you watch the video. If you are comfortable with being on-screen, go ahead and record yourself as you narrate and you can include yourself in a "picture in picture box" during part of the presentation. If you are not comfortable being in the show, why not include other video clips demonstrating something about your topic within the slide presentation?

Slides are not going away, no should they.
