Underground Training Lab...WOW!
It has been nearly six months since my last post but I haven't been sitting around idle all of that time. In addition to working my regular day job, I have been completing Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge, which for me was more like a 120 day challenge. I'm sure there are folks out there who were able to stay on schedule and finish the course in a more timely manner and I salute them. They obviously have more time on their hands and even more importantly, a greater ability to stay focused and on track! I have found that I had neither, enough time or discipline, to complete a program on schedule. I do have perseverance though and I did eventually get through the entire program. I did not however make my first ten dollars online.
I must be honest, I don't think this is due to anything lacking in the 30DC program. I cut corners here and there and totally skipped the three sessions on AdWords so I'm sure I left out some vital steps and I plan on going back to pick up the missing pieces this week. What I did learn was amazing! This FREE program covers all the basics and presents them a manner that anyone can understand. I would like to compare the material offered there to Jeff Johnson's Underground Training Lab, a similar course that sells for nearly $2000, but I haven't been able to convince myself to spend that much money on the UTL program. Without actually purchasing the program and trying it for myself, it would not be fair to make assumptions about the content. What is very appealing though is that for another $3000, I could skip the whole learning process and have Jeff and his crew do the work for me! If I had $5K sitting around it would be very tempting! Who wouldn't like to jump to the finish line and skip all the training and hard work?
Well, maybe not all of us. I must admit I find the learning process part of the fun. You may too, if so, check out the 30DC for yourself. The program actually aired in September but I believe it will remain available for some time. Ed is about to launch a sequel called 30 Day Challenge Plus. This follow-up program is like a graduate program for fine tuning all the skills and techniques they offered in the original FREE program. They haven't published a price yet, but I'm betting it won't be anywhere near the big money UTL is asking.
Don't get me wrong, if I had more time on my hands, I would give the self propelled version of UTL a try, it does after all have a 30 Money Back Guarantee. However, until I retire from my day job (January!) I don' t have enough time to give it a proper test. IF there are still openings available next month I may give it whirl. It is a limited offer though so I very likely will have to look on from the sidelines and wish I had jumped on the band wagon while I had the chance.

Are These People Really Wealthy Affliates?
I am certainly not! At least not yet. So I am into week three of the new affiliate program offered by Wealthy Affliates and I have managed to get my own Internet Marketing web page created and published. I have learned to how to view the "stats" on my various posts and discovered a neat thing. The lessons say that if you post articles and blogs and link them back to your web page that you will find that you get increased traffic to your pages and it appears to be true! Here I am three weeks into the program and I find that my Squidoo lens has 5 stars and jumped to an overall ranking of in the tens of thousands and a catorgory ranking of less that 3000. Now that may not sound exceptional to you but when you look at the average overall ranking as being in the 200,000+, I say that's not bad at all for a rookie!
In week six, I set up a couple of U.S. Free Ads for my daughter's custom designed Keds and found that immediately after placing the ads my keywords brought me up number five on the page in a Google search... sitting right beside some big money folks like Keds and Converse. I was astounded. The high page rank appeared to be short lived. A couple of days later the same search produced not a sign of our ads. This leads me to believe that Google's priorities are strongly linked to current postings.

Week 8 complete and I haven't made a single sale yet though which makes be think I may need to go back to page one and rethink my product line. I think the tools are there to do this. There being Wealthy Affiliate University. I think their 8-week boot camp program has me started on the right track! It covers all the basics. Product research, web set up, getting free ads and search engine optimization.
In addition, they have now added a Share Zone where members can also post tips and tricks. On top of that, WA also provides web hosting as part of the package. There hosting site is about the easiest I have seen yet. It is really a wealth of information.
I'm impressed!

The Search for Online Business Tools
As my journey into the realm of Internet marketing continued I soon realized that there are tens if not hundreds of thousands of others out there striving to develop a viable technique for making money online. Many seem to have found that the people most likely to spend money online are the people who are seeking to make money online. Hence, one of the key targets for new online businesses is products for building an online business.
Sign up for one product and you are guaranteed to receive further email offers for add-ons to that product or introductions to related products or affiliated marketers offering additional products or tools to make building your online business quicker, easier or more profitable.
My personal plan encompasses reviewing these products as they come to me and offering others the benefit of my efforts in an Ezine call My Favorite Online Business Tools. This will involve learning the ins and out of designing my own web page and creating articles and ads to draw others to go that page. From there they will hopefully find one of the products I reviewed suitable for their needs and follow the link to that product. Voila! I will have made a commission as an affiliate marketer.
As time goes on... I'll let you know if it works.

Is this Secret too good to be true?
Here I was, less than a week into this whole affiate marketing thing. Testing the waters, still researching the possibilites and looking for the flaws , when I received an email about a brand new marketing program, known as the Secret Affiliate Code, set to launch on that very day. Heck, I don't even know what "launching" is all about yet but Craig Becktra's presentation caught my attention and I was hooked.
Here was a 150 page manual, a half dozen videos and recorded interviews with some internet legends that outlined how to make money online, WITHOUT investing a bundle in web hosting, software programs, or advertising!
Now, like a mentioned earlier, I am just a beginner in this online marketing world but one thing was obvious to me on the first day I started my research... it would be real easy to start dropping a lot of money into all the books, DVDs, software tools, and memberships offered to you once you start putting your email address in all those popup boxes. I had already read testamonies from others that they had spent thousands of dollars before finding a plan that worked for them.
I think I was really lucky to have stumbled across the Secret Affiliate Code so early in my ventures.
