Is there someone you know down the street or nearby that has been out of work for sometime? Do you hesitate to offer help because you don't want to embarrass them? Why not invite them to dinner? Send them home with a "Christmas box" that you make for just such occasions. After all it is the Season.
Do you have more time them money? Volunteer at the local food bank or soup kitchen for a day.
If your sympathies lie more with four-legged creatures, help out has the animal shelter or sponsor a trip to vet for someone who can't afford it or help out during the next free clinic.
Look around you, there are hundreds of ways to share the love.
